Hello earthlings, it is I, Carlye.
I hope you’re all settled into school and not as bored as I am learning science. In first week of August, I promised some Chase updates. Well, here you go, 2 months overdue.
After Camp NaNoWriMo, I took a short break from novel because it was becoming to much. I could barely work on it for an hour, so I walked away.
A week later I came back with the hopes of publishing Chase in 2019. Crazy, yes. Impossible, not completely. But in order to accomplish my life long dream, I’d have to start editing again.
So editing went I. Compiling a awesome playlist, I went on my way. With a few breaks to scroll through Pinterest and add more pictures to the Chase inspiration board.
Asher sat in silence, eating his soggy cornflakes. He wasn’t sure why he always ate them- they tasted like wet cardboard- but that was all they had in the house, as usual.I promised snippets as well, so here you go
Then the joyous day came, August 26. I had finished Draft 2 of my novel.
The photo below is my reaction and my friend’s reaction to my good news. As you might see, we were pretty excited.
Even though it was 10:40 pm, I immediately pounced upon Draft 3. Draft 3 was me revising all my edits and compiling a long list of big things to change. Like character or plot problems.
“Micah, why did you leave so suddenly?” He slowed to a stop beside me. Ignoring Asher, I put my earbuds in and turned on the music. I wasn’t in the mood to be socializing with humanity right now.
The next day, I decided I needed to know more about grammar and writing rules. Cue my extensive note-taking sessions.
I finished the 88 chapters/blog posts that I figured would be useful to my writing process. Friday of September 6, I completed the task and went back to Draft 3 with new eyes.
I redid the first few pages of Draft 3,just in case there was some new developments after reading such enlightening writing advice.
Now, I’m not a huge procrastor. But for some reason, when I first started off, I was having the hardest time feeling inspired. Maybe it was my lack of sleep, maybe it was school starting. Neverless, I did’t do a terrible amount.
Instead, I decided to create a new book cover and finally add the book to Goodreads.
It’s the final cover! Isn’t it amazing!!!!
“Chase didn’t hurt me, Mom! The only thing he did was make me happy and feel valuable.” I protested, crossing my arms across my chest. Tears were forming in my eyes as my chest tightened, but I wasn’t going to cry in front of my parents.
Once I put Chase on Goodreads, it felt real. It was like, now I have to go and finish this book.
To put it plainly, I felt motivated.
Now almost half the book has been edited and re-edited. I have it all planned out, but there’s another BIG project that has most of my attention right now. I hope to release more information another time.
But for now, I must say goodbye and leave you with yet another snippet.
“What do you want Cristie? I was…” His jaw dropped and the sentence trailed off. “Micah, what did you do to your hair? I kinda like how looks. You know, once in college I was dared to dye my hair green. Needless to say, I never had one date during my sophomore year.” Dad chuckled to himself.
